Regional Hospital with approx. 11'000 in-patient and 46'000 out-patient cases. The specialties covered are Internal Medicine (incl. Gastroenterology--Endoscopical Treatments), Surgery (incl. Orthopedics, ENT), OB/GYN.
Working as a Clinical Coder in the administrative section of the hospital. Normal office hours, full time job means 42 hrs per week and flexi-hours. Half hour lunch break is compulsory and on your own time. Good cafeteria in a lovely Setting with reasonably priced meals, subsidized for personnel.
Clinical coding requires flexibility, the job is constantly demanding continuing schooling, rules are changing yearly. It also requires a lot of reading and it is tantamount to be able to focus over long periods of time. Accuracy and a sense for sherlock-holmes-like working is very helpful.
I enjoy good relationships with my co-workers, in my immediate team or outside it working on the same floor. The size of the hospital is manageable. There are plenty of opportunities to interrelate with employees from other sections.
